Status of #5

It wasn't a whole lot of fun. I was rather tired and just didn't feel well at all. That's to be expected though.

I managed to get out bed today and do a few things around the house.

Tomorrow Emily's mother and sister, Erin, fly in for the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival. Emily has a big itinerary planned for them, hopefully I am up for participating in much of it.

I also might go buy a DeWalt 12" compound miter saw from a guy on Craigslist tomorrow. I meant to call him today, but it just didn't happen. I want a sliding one, but I'll survive with the sliding bit I'm pretty sure.

I called the deck guy today and left a message, haven't heard back. I will try again tomorrow.

  1. Dear Ryan,

Well, you've been a busy little man haven't you? I'm your mother. I can talk like that. I can so see you figuring out the wiring. It reminds me of when you were little. You would run wires all over the house, connecting them to everything. You knew exactly where every wire went and what it was supposed to do. You used to love to explain, in detail, how everything worked. Kinda reminds me of your Blogs. Some things never change. I love sharing your life with you through your Blogs. All the details do make me feel like I'm there with you.

Kudos on getting the metal monster assembled, and even more, for using it. Bet you didn't know what you were in for when you bought it huh? You followed it through to the bitter end, moving light fixtures and everything.

Next time I come visit, I would like to eat at the Red Canoe. Sounds like my kind of place, even with the screwy service. I love Ma and Pa places like that. The part about Emily not complaining when she got the wrong lunch made me smile. She is soooo sweet. I can see her not wanting to upset the nice waitress. Precious.

You two are going to love snuggling under the covers on cold winter nights and watching a good movie on your new computer. You said it has a TV tuner? Does this mean you are actually allowing TV reception into your home? You’re joining the rest of us? Amazing! Of course, you’ll probably only use it to watch the PBS channel.

Holly and I learned the ins and outs of wall anchors when we moved into the apartment. I did the same thing with drilling the holes too small. The bits, the instructions said to use, looked soooo big, I was afraid to use it. I figured it was better to start small and work up, since you can’t really do it the other way. By the way, push pins work great on those canvas prints. Heck of a lot easier too.

The bigger better deck sounds great. Anything that minimizes maintenance sounds like the way to go. Also, I don’t care what anyone says, bigger is better. You will enjoy having the extra room. You’ll be able to put tables and chairs out there and comfortably move around them. Now you will have to buy a barbeque grill and invite the neighbors. After all, you are living in the burbs.

I hope you are feeling better today. The in-laws are coming! The in-laws are coming! It’s time to shear the sheep and pack the wool. Party, Party, Party. Give my love to Jill. I want her to come visit this summer. I’m going to email her at the end of the school year to set something up. Don’t push yourself to entertain while family is there. You KNOW Jill would not want or expect that. I love you.

    Mom

  2. I had to look up what a miter saw was, which is really sad since I apparently have one once I saw the picture of it (all manual, but I have the box nonetheless). Thank goodness for wikipedia.

The way Emily & her mom love knitting so much, it REALLY makes me feel like I am missing out on something! I REALLY want to learn how to knit & crochet, it's definitely on the top of my lists of things to teach myself next.

Rest up so you can play with the family comes!

    LOVE YA!!!!
    *hugs*

  3. "when the family comes" or "with the family", not "with the family comes".... I think faster than I can write.

  4. I have GOT to comment on the pic of the wire maze/circuit breaker. Just as Karen said, it resounds of you telling the whole family in detail exactly where each wire connected. We didn't understand then and don't understand now. All we know is that YOU know (speaking more about your electronic engineering skills).

But it was a hoot to see it back in my memory; all those insulated wires Papa Blink gave you stuck between the slats of the louver closet doors and then that picture of the labeled wires running into the circuit breaker. It all makes sense now.

    Love ya, Laurie
