Two posts in one day!

Two posts in one day! Oh my.

I forgot to mention a fact that everyone in my family presumably knows: Emily and I are coming back to Florida to visit for a whole week in August (August 8th through the 16th). My family has rented a habitation (I wrote 'cabin' and Emily corrected me and said it was a 'condo', so I will use a generically applicable term) on the beach in St. Augustine for part of that. We're going to have some sort of happy-fest to belatedly celebrate our marriage (and get the families to meet) and my presumed good-ish health. We're going to stuff ourselves silly with good food (not that this is an abnormal thing for us).

We're back from the party in PA. It was fun. I really like being in rural areas, it's so bucolic and pretty.

Maryland is in fact growing on me. It may be that nobody can drive when it isn't amazingly nice outside, and it may be one of the most expensive places to live in the country, but it does have actual seasons which I can coming to like (except winter) and quite a bit to do within a 1.5 hour drive of home. Right now it's sunny and like 75 degrees outside and absolutely wonderful.

Here are some more pictures:

  1. Tee hee... These were fun posts! I can't wait until August! Or even July, you 2 get to see lots of us in the next few months:)

The porch looks fantastic! And all the green around you... It really is rather deceiving from these pictures that you two live in the woods somewhere. The hammock was the BEST addition!

I'm really glad that you two have been able to get out & enjoy the state (& surrounding states!) that you live in. There may not be much in winter (althought I still think 17 degrees is ideal for me), but it does seem true there are more outdoorsie opportunities then just the damn beach:)

I am still so jealous of the REI... *sigh*

  3. Ahhh ... myspace@hammock.com ... I know it well. I'm proud of you for carrying through with your deck plans plus all the venturing you've done with travel, eating establishments and entertainment on top of it all. You're celebrating life, aren't you? Life is good!

This union of families at St Augustine is going to be great! I can hardly wait to see you guys and meet Emily's family. But we do have more adventures in between. I've got the whole summer vacation. Pretty soon Karen and I will meet Mom on Englewood Beach and we'll make some more stories in our life. Then we'll share them in August.

Once again I want to say that I'm so so so happy that you share your improving health reports and little excursions here on this blog. I'm waiting to hear you say that you've gained some weight, your stent is out, that you're riding your bike, working out on that 'machine' and playing some guitar/bass. In the meantime, what you've done is amazing and the pictures you are sharing are just fun and inspirational to see.

Jacques and Christopher say "Hello" and we send our love.

    Love, Laurie

  4. Dear Ryan,

The diagonal floor design, on the deck, is very classy. The deck is a great addition to your home. It has also done wonders to increase your home's value. You'll get every penny of your investment, and more, when (if) you sell. It sounds like you have come to love your Maryland locale. I’m looking forward to enjoying it myself this summer. This time, when we hike, let’s bring water, OK?

I’m glad you went to a concert, I’m also glad I wasn’t with you. If YOU thought the mix was harsh, then I would have hated it. You’ve talked about so many awesome restaurants; I’m looking forward to eating at one, but which one????? So far, my list includes the Red Canoe (poor service aside) and Scittino’s.

When are two going to Ikea to select the patio furniture? Has Trevor “volunteered” to pick it up yet? I still haven’t been to an Ikea. I suppose we should add that to our vacation plans. Don’t you just love how pushy I am? I really don’t care what we do during our visit. Holly and I will have a great time just having you and Emily all to ourselves.

    I Love You,
    Mom

  5. Good Morning,
I/we are so glad to hear that you are feeling well enough to do "normal things", such as the concert, eating out, etc... The deck looks great!! Although, we have never seen your place, your backyard makes is look like you are in the country. We so love sitting on the veranda and oogling into the backyard, listening to the sounds of nature. :)
I was completly finished with school last Friday. It hasn't sunk in yet. It feels like a couple of days off or even just a spring break. Maybe next week!
John and I are looking forward to the St. Augustine trip to see/meet everyone. As always, it will be a Family Party!!!
Enjoy your new deck, as we have no doubt that you and Emily will.
    Love,
    Auntie C and Uncle John
